Cygna Labs Brings Agentic AI to DDI with Cygna Automation Appliance 4.0

New release lets enterprises put AI agents to work on DNS, DHCP, and IPAM, with policy guardrails that keep humans in control
MIAMI — Oct. 28, 2026 — Cygna Labs, a leading provider of DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IP address management) and security and compliance solutions, today announced the availability of Cygna Automation Appliance (CAA) 4.0. Version 4.0 adds support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI agents to external tools and data. With MCP, any compatible AI agent can securely connect to IPControl and VitalQIP to query and provision subnets, IP addresses, address pools, DNS zones, and resource records, within limits administrators define.
The release delivers on the agentic DDI strategy Cygna Labs announced in June alongside the publication of the book Agentic DDI. Traditional DDI systems define the IP addressing structure from which DNS and DHCP configurations are derived, but they have relied on manual or script-driven administration. CAA 4.0 lets organizations shift toward objective-driven operations without giving up control. Because CAA acts under the permissions of an administrator account defined in IPControl or VitalQIP, agents can do only what that role allows, so existing access policies continue to apply and help organizations meet internal and regulatory requirements.
“Customers are seeking more adaptive, intelligent automation beyond today’s rigid, deterministic scripts and APIs,” said Timothy Rooney, vice president of products DDI at Cygna Labs and co-author of Agentic DDI. “CAA is the ‘DDI CPU,’ a layer that translates an AI agent's intent into governed DDI actions.”
“AI agents can deliver major productivity gains for DDI teams,” said Michael Dooley, senior vice president of DDI at Cygna Labs and co-author of Agentic DDI. “But trust has to be built in, and that starts with customers deciding what an agent can and can't touch.”
