ImageControl Software

ImageControl provides cable operators with an automated and highly scalable solution for upgrading and maintaining firmware on DOCSIS devices in the field, including cable modems, Multimedia Terminal Adapters, digital set-top boxes and others. It is designed to handle large networks with network discovery and inventory tracking functions to identify each device’s vendor, make, model type and version.

Centralized cable firmware management

ImageControl provides centralized, automated cable firmware management with multi-vendor DOCSIS device support. It also offers the flexibility of scheduled or on-demand updates, a high-performance architecture and scalability to millions of devices.

Centralized cable firmware management

Accelerate services deployment

ImageControl accelerates the deployment of new advanced cable services by quickly and seamlessly inventorying customer premesis equipment (CPE), upgrading modem firmware, and reducing administrative costs by automating complex firmware management functions.

Accelerate services deployment

Streamline device administration

ImageControl also helps minimize errors by centralizing management and automating recurring functions though an intuitive graphical interface. And ImageControl supports subscriber growth by scaling to millions of devices and improves customer satisfaction by ensuring version compatibility with minimal service disruption.

Automated CPE discovery

ImageControl automates the discovery of DOCSIS devices on your network offering a variety of discovery options either at the CMTS or the device/IP level. ImageControl supports a unique ModelMatching feature which enables decoding of received SNMP strings from CPE for classification by vendor, make, model and version.

Centralized device inventory

ImageControl maintains a centralized, consistent inventory of DOCSIS devices on your network that can be discovered, imported or manually entered.

Granular control of firmware updates

ImageControl supports a centralized repository for CPE images, then enables distribution of images to all or certain TFTP servers to stage the upgrade process. Upgrades can be initiated on-demand or scheduled. And thresholds can be set to minimize the impact of a faulty vendor firmware revision to prevent bricking of large numbers of CPE.

Firmware updates for newly provisioned devices

ImageControl automatically detects newly provisioned devices, validating firmware versions and upgrading firmware to acceptable versions if needed.

Intuitive, Flexible and Customizable Administration

The intuitive Windows interface provides easy-to-use point and click operation. Flexible custom configurations support off-hour scheduled and on-demand firmware upgrades based on vendor, model, hardware revision and firmware version.

Scalable, High-Performance Architecture

ImageControl features a distributed architecture that ensures scalability, load balancing and the option to choose between decentralized or centralized deployments. Its multi-threaded architecture ensures portability and maximum throughput, allowing thousands of devices to be updated per hour.

Built-In Security and Reliability

All sensitive data is encrypted to ensure maximum security and reliability is maintained by supplying upgrades only to modems needing new firmware.

Robust Reporting

Real-time progress indicators and reports show the status of discovery and update tasks while automatically archiving data to create an audit trail for each update task at the device level.
